船体処理
船体の反りがかなり強く、ドライヤーで温めたりお湯で温めたりしながら反りを修正しました。艦首は欠けていたので、瞬間接着剤で作り直しました。
概ね処理が終わったらサーフェイサーを吹いて表面状態を確認します。
The warp of the hull is quite strong, and I corrected the warp while warming it with a dryer or hot water. Her bow was missing, so she remade it with super glue.
After the treatment is almost finished, paint the surfacer and check the surface condition.
最近制作したのは高品質レジンキットが多かったので、レジンキットの凹みとか気泡はあまりなかったのですが、このキットは喫水線付近にかなり凹みというか段差がありますので瞬着やパテを塗り再度サンディングして仕上げました。この後更にサーフェイサーを吹いて下地を仕上げます。
I made a lot of high quality resin kits recently, so there weren’t many dents or bubbles in the resin kit, but this kit has a lot of dents or steps near the waterline, so I applied flashing or putty and sanded again. I finished it. After this, blow a surfacer to finish the base.
甲板は鋼甲板なのか？
迷ったのが甲板塗装です。今回の制作は1920年のエドワード8世のお召艦時代です。レナウンの改造は概ね次のようになっています
I was at a loss about painting the deck. This production is set to be the era of Edward VIII’s ship in 1920. Renown’s modifications are roughly as follows
1916年 竣工直後
1917年 第一煙突が高くなる
1919年 お召艦（北米、中南米）
1920年 お召艦（オーストラリア・日本など）
1923年 第一次改装（バルジ装着）
1936年 第二次改装（艦橋大改造）
レナウン／レパルスの竣工時は甲板のほぼ全てが鋼甲板だったと考えられています。問題は一部をどこで木甲板に変更したかです。常識的に考えて第一次改装後と思っていました。1920年にメルボルンに入港したレナウンの甲板もダークグレーの鋼甲板に見えていたのです。

1923 First refurbishment (with bulge installed)
1936 Second refurbishment (major remodeling of the bridge)
It is believed that almost all of her deck was steel deck when Renown / Repulse was completed. The question is where did you change some to the wooden deck? I thought it was after the first renovation, considering common sense. Her deck in Renown, which she arrived in Melbourne in 1920, also looked like a dark gray steel deck.
しかし、世界の艦船9月増刊
を見てみるとレナウンに乗ったワラビーの下は木甲板にも見えるので、かなり迷いました。決定打は見つけられなかったのですが、木甲板を張るとなると大工事だろうし1920年は鋼甲板という事で制作を進めます。
The bottom of the wallaby on the Renown looks like a wooden deck, so I was quite at a loss. I couldn’t find a decisive hit, but it would be a big construction to put up a wooden deck, and in 1920 I will proceed with the production because it is a steel deck.
最後部副砲バーベット
最後方副砲はお召艦時代には撤去されているのですが、バーベットはそのままだろうという事で残してあります。
The rear secondary armament has been removed on the ship, but the barbette is left as it is.
甲板塗装
甲板はMrカラー331ダークシーグレーとしました。
The deck is Mr color 331 dark sea gray.
