実船解説
『しらせ』（艦番号AGB‑5002）は、日本の3代目南極観測船で、1982年11月に就役し、先代「ふじ」（AGB‑5001）の後継として昭和基地と日本を25往復しました
2008年7月に退役し、スクラップ予定でしたが、ウェザーニューズ（Weathernews）が買い取り再活用を提案。2009年11月採択され、2010年2月に引き渡し 。同年「SHIRASE」と表記を変更し、千葉・船橋港に環境情報発信拠点として係留。観測・展示・イベント開催などに活用されています
The Shirase (ship number AGB-5002) is Japan’s third Antarctic research vessel, commissioned in November 1982 and making 25 round trips between Showa Station and Japan as the successor to its predecessor Fuji (AGB-5001).
It was decommissioned in July 2008 and was scheduled to be scrapped, but Weathernews proposed purchasing and reusing it. This was accepted in November 2009 and it was delivered in February 2010. In the same year, the name was changed to “SHIRASE” and it is moored at Funabashi Port in Chiba as a base for disseminating environmental information. It is used for observation, exhibitions, and event hosting.

製作・塗装
以前製作したときはエッチングパーツ付を製作したのですが、今回は純正のエッチングパーツの入手が不可能だったので、汎用のエッチング
テトラモデルワークス 1/700 現用 米・手すり、セーフティーネットエッチングパーツ
などを使用しました。実はたかなみ型のエッチングも準備したのですが、マストとのバランスが悪く使用を断念しました。後部マストのアンテナは真鍮線に変更してあります。
塗装は前回使用したセールカラーとオレンジではなく、5003の説明書を参考にレドームMr.カラー318＋ホワイト、オレンジ＋イエローとしました。
すみ入れ後にスーパースムースクリアーを吹いて仕上げてあります。
Previously, I made a kit with etching parts, but this time, I couldn’t get the genuine etching parts, so I used generic etching parts.
Tetra Model Works 1/700 Current US Handrail, Safety Net Etching Parts
I used parts such as these. I actually prepared a Takanami-type etching, but it was not well balanced with the mast, so I gave up on using it. The antenna on the rear mast has been changed to brass wire.
Instead of the sail color and orange I used last time, I used radome Mr. Color 318 + white, orange + yellow, referring to the 5003 manual.
After filling in the corners, I sprayed on super smooth clear to finish it off.
