実艦解説

リアンダー級フリゲート「アンドロメダ」は、イギリス海軍が1960年代に建造した汎用フリゲートです。対潜戦を主目的としつつ、防空・対水上戦闘も可能なバランス型艦として設計されています。蒸気タービン推進により高速航行が可能で、長期間の外洋任務にも対応しています。

後年には近代化改装が施され、オーストラリア製イカラ対潜ミサイルや新型レーダーを搭載することで対潜能力が大幅に強化されました。これにより冷戦期のソ連潜水艦への対抗戦力として重要な役割を果たしました。リアンダー級は多数が建造され、NATO諸国でも広く運用されましたが、アンドロメダはその中でも改装により長く第一線で活躍した艦の一つです。

“Andromeda” was a general-purpose frigate built by the Royal Navy in the 1960s. It was designed as a balanced warship capable of anti-submarine warfare as its primary mission, while also performing air defense and surface combat roles. The ship was named after the mythological Andromeda and carried the pennant number F57. Powered by steam turbines, it was capable of high-speed operations and long-duration deployments in open seas.

In later years, the ship underwent modernization refits, during which the Australian-made Ikara anti-submarine missile system and updated radar equipment were installed, significantly enhancing its anti-submarine capabilities. As a result, it played an important role in countering Soviet submarines during the Cold War. The Leander-class frigates were built in large numbers and widely operated by NATO countries, and Andromeda was one of the ships that remained active on the front lines for an extended period thanks to these upgrades.

キット紹介

スターリングモデルの3Dプリンタキットです。3Dプリンタパーツとエッチングパーツで構成されます。精密なのですが、樹脂が脆いので切り離しや組立にはプラモデルやレジンキットより一層の慎重さが必要です。今回の制作では実際2個のキットを使用しました。

船体の反りも組立前にできる限り修正の上で、艦底にプラ板を貼っておいたのですが、それでも徐々に反ってきました。レジンよりも修正が難しいので、完成後の修正は一部断念しています。

This is a 3D-printed kit of the Stirling Models. It consists of 3D-printed and etched parts. While precise, the resin is brittle, requiring even greater care during separation and assembly than plastic or resin kits. I actually used two kits for this build.

I tried to correct the hull’s warping as much as possible before assembly and even attached plastic sheets to the bottom, but it still gradually warped. Because it’s more difficult to correct than resin, I gave up on some post-completion corrections.
