新谷かおる著 エリア88の主要キャラクター グレッグのA-10の完成品です。ホビーボスの1/48 A-10 のプラモデルと とRose Ridge のデカールで製作しました。
This is a finished product of Greg’s A-10, the main character of Area 88 by Kaoru Shintani. Made with Hobby Boss 1/48 A-10 plastic model and his and Rose Ridge decals.
実機解説
エリア88の劇中、対地攻撃で右に出るものなしと言われたグレッグが中盤から最後まで搭乗した機体です。
A-10は近接航空支援（味方地上部隊のための航空機による火力支援）の戦車攻撃に特化した攻撃機で、エリア88連載中には最新鋭機でした。あまりにも特化した性能だったために、実は1980年代後半には退役計画がありました。1985年ごろにはA-7をベースとする新型機で更新するという話があったように記憶しています。
この状況が一変するのは湾岸戦争です。湾岸戦争ではA-10は想定された用途に投入され、圧倒的な性能を示したために退役計画は撤回され2021年現在現役です。
In the Area 88 comics, Greg, who was said to be the strongest in ground attack, boarded from the middle to the end.
The A-10 is an attack aircraft specializing in close air support (aircraft fire support for friendly ground forces) tank attacks, and was a state-of-the-art aircraft during the Area 88 series. The performance was so specialized that it was actually planned to retire in the late 1980s. I remember that around 1985, there was talk of updating with a new model based on the A-7.
This situation changed completely in the Gulf War. In the Gulf War, the A-10 was put into use for its intended use, and due to its overwhelming performance, the retirement plan was withdrawn and it is still in service as of 2021.
キット
1/48のA-10のプラモデルはイタレリからも発売されています。イタレリ版も評価の高いキットですが、ホビーボスもリベットなどの表面モールドの優れた好キットとなっています。
2021年の段階ではマーベリックミサイルの三連装ランチャーは使用されていませんが、エリア88連載時のイメージで三連装ランチャーを使用しています。
The 1/48 A-10 plastic model is also available from Italeri. The Italeri version is also a highly rated kit, but Hobby Boss is also a good kit with excellent surface molds such as rivets.
At the stage of 2021, the triple launcher of the Maverick missile was not used, but the triple launcher is used assuming around 1980.
塗装
エリア88中のグレッグのA-10はそもそもカラー表示が少ないのですが、基本的にまだら模様の塗装になっています。この制作ではMr.カラー305と306の塗装で仕上げました。
Greg’s A-10 in Area 88 has few color displays in the first place, but it is basically painted with a mottled pattern. In this production, I finished with Mr. color 305 and 306 painting.
