前回の手すりなどの取り付けに続いてお召艦時代の追加工作を行います

Following the installation of the handrails etc. last time, we will perform additional work during the time of the Crown Prince on board.

探照灯台の取り付け

探照灯台はキットにも入っているのですが、1920年仕様とはかなり異なります、プラ棒とプラ材を組み合わせて取り付けました。

The searchlight stand is also included in the kit, but it is quite different from the 1920 specification, I installed it by combining plastic rods and plastic materials.

キットでは煙突から探照灯用の甲板が伸びる形なのですが、1920年では塔状の探照灯台のようです。なお第一次改装後の写真では塔状下部は煙突に取り付けられているようなのですが、1920年では甲板から伸びいるように思えたので甲板に取り付けました。

In the kit, the deck for the searchlight extends from the chimney, but in 1920 it looks like a tower-shaped searchlight stand. In the photo after the first renovation, the lower part of the tower seems to be attached to the chimney, but in 1920 it seemed to extend from the deck, so I attached it to the deck.

1920年でも違いがある！

レナウンは1920年のパナマ運河通過時とされる画像があり、私もこのパナマ運河通過時の画像を参照していたのですが、ネットで調べたり、同じ1920年とされる画像をよく見ると前後煙突の間の甲板上に構造物がある写真とない写真があります。私が見ていたパナマ運河通過時の写真は構造物が無い写真です。

更に構造物がある写真ですと、撤去された副砲付近に固定式の屋根があるようですし、示数板か時計も装備位置が変更されています。

あくまで推定なのですが、1920年のどこかの時点で構造物が追加され、固定式の屋根に変わっているようです。

Renown has an image of passing through the Panama Canal in 1920, and I also referred to this image of passing through the Panama Canal. If you look online or look closely at the same 1920 image, you will see some photos with structures on the deck between the front and rear chimneys and some without. The photo I was looking at when passing through the Panama Canal is a photo without structures.

In the photo with the structure, it seems that there is a fixed roof near the removed secondary armament, and the position of the indicator board or clock has been changed.

It’s just an estimate, but at some point in 1920, a structure was added and it seems to have changed to a fixed roof.

この構造物はなんだ？

さて、この追加された構造物は何なのか？という話なのですが、恐らくエドワード王子用のスカッシュコートと映画館装備だろうと思います。なんてラグジュアリーな装備！

構造物はプラ板の箱組、天板はプラ板から切り出して作りました。

So what is this added structure? I think it’s probably a squash coat and cinema equipment for Prince Edward. What a luxury equipment!

The structure was made from a box of plastic plates, and the top plate was cut out from the plastic plate.
