実機解説

ドイツの高高度爆撃に対抗する高高度戦闘機として開発されたのがウェストランド　ウェルキンです。高高度戦闘機らしくアスペクト比の大きな主翼を持ち、与圧キャビンを備えていました。

ドイツの高高度爆撃機の脅威が減少し、双発の迎撃機として使用するには性能不足で少数が生産されました。この少数の中から一機が夜間戦闘機型に改造されました。この夜間戦闘機型がNF.2です。イギリスには傑作夜間戦闘機のモスキートが存在していたので、夜間戦闘機型のウェルキンは一機だけ生産されるに留まりました。

Westland Welkin was developed as a high-altitude fighter to counter the high-altitude bombing of Germany. Since it is a high-altitude fighter, it has a main wing with a large aspect ratio and a pressurized cabin.

The threat of German high-altitude bombers has diminished, and a small number have been produced due to lack of performance for use as twin-engine interceptors. One of these few was converted into a night fighter. This night fighter type is NF.2. Due to the existence of the masterpiece nightfighter Mosquito in Britain, only one nightfighter-type Welkin was produced.

製作

クリアーパーツとコクピット内パーツの一部を紛失したか、もともと入っていませんでした。コクピット内はタミヤの1/72　モスキート夜間戦闘機型のパーツを使用しました。

Some of the clear parts and parts in the cockpit were lost or were not originally included. Inside the cockpit, we used Tamiya’s 1/72 Mosquito night fighter type parts.

クリアーパーツはWAVEのHアイズとHアイズ角型を使用しました。アンテナは0.3㎜の真鍮線です。

塗装は上面がMrカラー　363ミディアムシーグレー、下面はガイアノーツのアルティメットホワイト→ガイアノーツのサンシャインイエローです。スモークグレーでシャドウを入れてからスミ入れ、デカール、最後にスーパースムースクリアーを塗装しました。

For the clear parts, we used WAVE’s H-eyes and H-eyes square type. The antenna is a 0.3 mm brass wire.

The upper surface is Mr color 363 medium sea gray, and the lower surface is Gaia Notes ultimate white → Gaia Notes sunshine yellow. I put a shadow in smoke gray, then put a stain, decal, and finally painted Super Smooth Clear.
