実機解説

F-102Aはセンチュリーシリーズの１つで、ソ連の爆撃機を迎撃するため「だけ」に開発された迎撃機です。試作機で音速を超えられなかったので抜本的な改良が加えられました。特に有名なのはエリアルールの採用です。エリアルールというのは断面面積変化を小さくするもので音速付近の抗力の増大を防いでいます。F-102でも胴体がくびれているのが分かると思います。

　武装は胴体内にファルコンミサイルを装備しています。

The F-102A is one of the Century Series, an interceptor developed “only” to intercept Soviet bombers. Since the prototype could not exceed the speed of sound, a drastic improvement was added. Especially famous is the adoption of the area rule. The area rule reduces the change in cross-sectional area and prevents the increase in drag near the speed of sound. You can see that the body is constricted even with the F-102.

Armed with a Falcon missile inside the fuselage.

キット紹介

モンモデルのキットです。キットの出来はかなり良いと思います。スジ彫りは若干太めではありますが、エアフィックスと同じく塗装すれば問題ありません。パーツの合いもかなり良いですし、組み立てるだけなら特に問題になる箇所はないと思います。

This is a Meng Model kit. I think the kit is pretty good. The streak carving is a little thick, but there is no problem if you paint it like the airfix. The fit of the parts is pretty good, and I don’t think there are any particular problems if you just assemble it.

製作・塗装

モンモデルのキットは初めてだったのですが、離型剤がかなり残っています。機体表面はサンディングするので問題ないのですが、脚庫内など研磨できない部分は塗装してもはじかれてしまいました。

　ファルコンミサイルのミサイルベイは開状態にしています。

塗装はサーフェイサーグレー＋ブラックを下地にエアクラフトグレーです。シャドウを入れてからジャーマングレーでウォッシングです。

エアクラフトグレーなのでグロスでも良いのでしょうけども、72なのとエンジンやインテイクのメタリックとのメリハリも含めてつや消し仕上げにしてみました。

This was my first time to use the Meng Model kit, but there is still a lot of mold release agent left. There is no problem because the surface of the machine is sanded, but the parts that cannot be polished, such as the inside of the leg storage, were repelled even if painted.

The missile bay of the Falcon missile is open.

The painting is aircraft gray with surfacer gray + black as the base. After putting a shadow, it is washed with German gray.

Since it is an aircraft gray, it may be glossy, but I tried to make it a matte finish including the sharpness of 72 and the metallic of the engine and intake.
