ハセガワの1/72 二式飛行艇（二式大艇）と銀河（梓特別攻撃隊）を使用してウルシ―への特別攻撃隊とその誘導機の二式大艇を製作しました。

Using Hasegawa’s 1/72 type 2 flying boat (type 2 large boat) and galaxy (Azusa special attack corps), we made a special attack corps to Urushi and a type 2 large boat of its guide.

実機解説
二式飛行艇は日本海軍が誇る大型飛行艇で飛行艇としては驚異的な高速・航続力・防御力を持ち、真珠湾への爆撃作戦などにも投入されています。戦争後半には長大な航続力と防御力を生かし孤立した基地への強行輸送にも投入されています。
The Type 2 flying boat is a large flying boat that the Japanese Navy is proud of, and has amazing high speed, cruising power, and defensive power as a flying boat, and has been put into bombing operations on Pearl Harbor. In the latter half of the war, it was also used for forced transportation to isolated bases by taking advantage of its long cruising power and defensive power.
第二次丹作戦での活躍
ウルシ―環礁への特攻攻撃の第二次丹作戦でも二式大艇が誘導機として参加しました。
特別攻撃隊は800㎏爆弾を搭載した銀河です。
In the second Tan operation of the special attack on Ulithi Atoll, the Type 2 large boat also participated as a guide.
The special attack corps is a ginga carrying an 800 kg bomb.
この銀河24機を3000㎞離れたウルシ―に誘導するために航法練度の高い二式大艇が選ばれ、特別攻撃隊の先頭に立ちウルシ―まで誘導を行いました。誘導機は二機だったのですが、日本近海で一機は撃墜されてしまったために、二番機が単独で3000㎞近い距離を誘導することになりました。
銀河は片道の燃料しかありませんから、二式大艇の誘導が失敗すれば梓特別攻撃隊はまさに犬死となってしまいます。そのプレッシャーと戦いながら二式大艇は誘導を行いました。
二式大艇の速度が速いとはいっても、それは飛行艇基準の話。新鋭の爆撃機「銀河」は速度が速いので、二式大艇はエンジンの性能一杯を使った速度でウルシ―を目指しました。しかし、出発が遅れたこともあり、視界のある間にウルシ―到着できない可能性が出てきました。最後の策として、二式大艇はエンジン一基を限界以上で使用し、犠牲にすることで巡航速度を上げる事を決断、何とか視界のあるうちにウルシ―へ到達しました。ウルシ―に到達後エンジン一基が爆発、辛うじてメレヨン島に着水しました。
In order to guide these 24 ginga to Urushi, which is 3000 km away, a two-type large boat with a high degree of navigation was selected, and led the special attack corps to guide Urushi. There were two induction aircraft, but one was shot down in the waters near Japan, so the second aircraft alone guided a distance of nearly 3,000 km.
Since the ginga has only one-way fuel, if the guidance of the Type 2 large boat fails, the Azusa Special Attack Corps will just die. While fighting the pressure, the Type 2 large boat guided.
Even though the speed of the Type 2 large boat is fast, it is a story of flying boat standards. Since the speed of the new bomber “Ginga” is fast, the Type 2 large boat aimed at Urushi at a speed that used the full performance of the engine. However, due to the delay in departure, there was a possibility that Urushi could not arrive while there was visibility. As a final measure, the Type 2 large boat decided to increase the cruising speed by using and sacrificing one engine at an output exceeding the limit, and managed to reach Urushi while having visibility. After arriving at Urushi, one engine exploded and barely landed on Woleai.
キット紹介と製作塗装
ハセガワの新しいキットです。2017年発売。新しいだけあって作りやすく、ディテールにも優れた素晴らしいキットです。
一つだけ難点として飛行状態又は着水状態にはしにくく、取り外し式の脚で保持することになっている事です。
この制作では飛行状態改造のために内部にナットを固定して、バンダイのアクションベースで固定する方式に変更しました。
This is a new Hasegawa kit. Released in 2017. It’s a great kit because it’s new, easy to make, and has excellent details.
The only difficulty is that it is difficult to put it in flight or water landing, and it is supposed to be held by removable legs.
In this production, in order to modify the flight condition, we changed to a method of fixing the nut inside and fixing it with Bandai’s action base.
更に丹作戦仕様とするために機番を変更しました。パイロットフィギュアは銀河隊と別れた時のイメージで軍艦旗や日の丸を持たせて敬礼させました
Furthermore, the machine number was changed to make it a Tan operation specification. The pilot figure was salute with a warship flag and the Hinomaru in the image of when it broke up with the Ginga corps.
