映画トップガンなどでも主役機として活躍し、米海軍でも長年主力戦闘機として活躍しました。何と言っても可変後退翼が特徴となっています。
It was also active as a leading aircraft in movie Top Gun, etc., and was also active as a leading fighter in the US Navy for many years. The feature is a variable swept wing after all.

製作
キットの設定では比較的初期のブロックの機体なのですが、全く無視で好きな飛行隊の１つのサンダウナーズにしてみました。この機体はブロック100だと思われますので、垂直尾翼の補強板は後期タイプ、バルカン砲スリットはブロック75以降のものにしました。
In the setting of the kit, it is a relatively early block aircraft, but I ignored it completely and tried to make it one of my favorite squadrons, Sundowners. Since this aircraft seems to be block 100, the reinforcement plate of the vertical stabilizer is a late type, and the Vulcan cannon slit is block 75 or later.
制作・塗装
デカールはアシタのデカールです。全然寸法が合わないです(笑)、年代違いのデカールも入っているのであれこれ切り貼りして仕上げました。シートベルトはファインモールドのナノアヴィエーションです。合わせ目消しやスジボリの彫り直しなどの基本工作以外では、バルカン砲や胴体上部開口部を薄く仕上げています。垂直尾翼の灯火のモールドは片側は誤っているので修正しています。
塗装は全面ガルグレーの時代なので、ダークグレーサフ→ニュートラルグレー２（ガイアノーツ）です。ニュートラルグレー４でシャドウ、ニュートラルグレー１でハイライトを入れてからダークグレーでウォッシング、デカールの順です。
最後にスーパースムースクリアーを吹きました。
The decal is an Ashita decal（ASU・DECA）. The dimensions don’t fit at all (laughs), and even if there are decals of different ages, I cut and pasted them to finish. The seat belt is Fine Molds Nano Aviation. Except for basic work such as mating and re-engraving streaks, the Vulcan cannon and the upper opening of the fuselage are thinly finished. The mold of the light of the vertical stabilizer is incorrect on one side, so I am correcting it.
Since the painting was in the era of gull gray, it is dark gray suff → neutral gray 2 (Gaia Notes). Neutral gray 4 for shadows, neutral gray 1 for highlights, then dark gray for washing and decals.
Finally, I blew Super Smooth Clear.
