トップガンマーヴェリックで主役機のF/A-18Eを紹介します。1/72のF/A-18Eはいくつか発売されていますが、トップガンマーヴェリックの機体にするためにはブロック２を使用する必要があります。以前作った時はブロック２の入手が難しかったのもあって、3Dプリンタパーツを使用しましたが、今回はブロック２を入手できました。

Introducing the F/A-18E, the main character in Top Gun Maverick. There are several 1/72 F/A-18Es on sale, but in order to make it into a Top Gun Maverick aircraft, you need to use Block 2. Last time I made it, it was difficult to get block 2, so I used 3D printer parts, but this time I was able to get block 2.

ブロック２の入手方法

1/72のF/A-18Eはハセガワとアカデミー／童友社が入手しやすいでしょう。ハセガワの場合定番品はブロック１なので以下の方法でブロック２にする必要があります。

１　ブロック２の限定品を入手する

２　３Dプリンタパーツを使用する

３　EA-18Gグラウラーと定番品のF/A-18Eを組み合わせる

以外に知られていないのが３で、EA-18Gは入手が容易いですが機体はブロック２仕様です。下手にブロック２の限定版を探すより、安かったりします

1/72 F/A-18E will be easily available from Hasegawa and Academy/Doyusha. In the case of Hasegawa, the standard product is block 1, so you need to make it block 2 using the following method.

Obtain Block 2 limited edition items
Use 3D printer parts
Combine EA-18G growler and standard product F/A-18E

The only thing that is not well known is 3.The EA-18G is easy to obtain, but the aircraft is a Block 2 specification. It’s cheaper than looking for a limited edition of Block 2.

アカデミーの1/72 F/A-18Eは少しコンセプトの違うキットで、ハセガワとは一長一短という印象です。

Academy’s 1/72 F/A-18E is a kit with a slightly different concept, and I have the impression that it has advantages and disadvantages from Hasegawa.

ハセガワのキット内容

今回使用するのはVX-31の限定仕様で、ワッペンが入っています

The one we will be using this time is the limited version of VX-31, which includes a patch.

ブロック２の特徴、チムニーダクトが再現されています

The chimney duct, a feature of Block 2, is reproduced.

モールドは浅くて細め、最近のタミヤのようなメリハリ強めのモールドではないので、彫りなおすか、スミ入れ方法に工夫が必要です。

The mold is shallow and narrow, and it’s not a sharp mold like recent Tamiya molds, so you’ll need to either re-carve it or find a way to add indentations.

インテイクは薄くシャープになっています。この箇所はアカデミーでは厚めなので、アカデミーを薄くする手間を考えるとハセガワが優位だったりします

The intake is thin and sharp. This part is thicker in the Academy, so considering the effort involved in making the Academy thinner, Hasegawa may have an advantage.

主翼のモールドは1/72としては過不足のないものです。でも浅めなのは変わらず

The main wing mold is just right for 1/72. But it’s still shallow

主脚庫は胴体と一体。

The main landing gear storage is integrated with the fuselage.

武装はAIM-120×２とAIM-9X×２それに、ターゲットポッドなので、ちょっと寂しめ

Armed with AIM-120 x 2, AIM-9X x 2, and a target pod, so it’s a bit sad.

ドロップタンクは三本付属

Three drop tanks are included.

アカデミーとどちらが良いか

アカデミーは別記事にします。ただ、概要だけ

アカデミーのモールドは細かいですが、モールドの薄さはハセガワ以上です。なので、タミヤやエアフィックス、スペシャルホビーのようなメリハリ強めのモールドではないです。

パーツの合いはアカデミーの方が上。ただし、作りやすさ優先であるために、一部実機構造を無視している部分や厚みがある箇所がある。

I will write a separate article about the academy. Just an overview

Academy’s mold is fine, but the mold is thinner than Hasegawa’s. So, it’s not a sharp mold like Tamiya, Airfix, or Special Hobby.

The fit of the parts is better on the Academy. However, because ease of production is a priority, there are some parts that ignore the actual structure and parts that are thick.
